Prospects for water sector development in the context of economic digitalization
Abstract
This article presents an in-depth analysis of the prospects for the systemic modernization, improved management efficiency, and development of the republic’s water management complex within the context of the digitalization of the modern economy. Today, global climate change and the growing scarcity of water resources necessitate a fundamental digital transformation of this sector. The study comprehensively examines the implementation of advanced information technologies—such as smart water meters, geographic information systems (GIS), artificial intelligence, remote monitoring systems, and the automation of distribution processes—within the water sector. The study also evaluates the economic and environmental efficiency of applying digital technologies to water resource management and identifies strategic directions for addressing the sector's systemic challenges. In conclusion, key practical recommendations are presented for reducing water losses, ensuring rational water use, and attracting investment to the sector. This work is of significant practical value and is intended for industry specialists, researchers, and economists.
