Semantic and structural typology of weather phenomena lexicon in english and uzbek languages
Abstract
This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the linguistic and semantic typology of weather phenomena through the prism of cognitive linguistics and linguacultural theories. The study elucidates the functional interdependence of formal (grammatical) and semantic coding models, the specific features of expressing dynamic (precipitative and non-precipitative) and static (temperature, atmospheric pressure, light) meteorological phenomena in English and Uzbek, and their conceptual foundations in human cognition. Through cross-linguistic typological analyses, the mechanisms of coding meteorological events in structurally diverse languages, the distribution of predicate- and argument-centered constructions, and the semantic layers of anthropomorphization (personification) processes are revealed.
